3000 years of food and history. Sicily is considered the criddle of Mediterranean civilization, the dance hall where all the population met, exchanged, fought, loved. Still, Sicily brings all the signs of its multicultural past, and culture means: Temples, roads, vines, battle fields, rich tables. Sicily is a zipped file of the European history.
Let us introduce the ultimate food and culture tour of Western Sicily designed for real foodies and wine lovers. Food and wine are strictly connected to history. You will read the evolution of sicilian culture in 7 intense days of flavors, scents and views.

THE ITINERARY
Day 1 – 🛏️ Palermo Hotel**** / Meet & Greet 🤝
Welcome to Palermo! Meet your guide and get ready for a journey through the flavors, history, and traditions of Western Sicily. A first taste of what awaits you.
Day 2 – 🛏️ Palermo Hotel**** / Street Food Day 🥪
We kick off with an art pill: the church ranked by The Daily Telegraph among the 23 most beautiful in the world. Feed your eyes with Arab-Norman splendor before feeding your belly with Sicily’s legendary street food!
Your guide will walk you through Palermo’s bustling markets and hidden alleys to sample iconic bites. From authentic arancini made with a thousand-year-old recipe to bold street snacks you’d never discover on your own—get ready to stretch your stomach and challenge your palate!
Afterwards, meet Palermo’s patron saint, Santa Rosalia: step inside her sacred cave and sip a rare herbal liqueur made from the plants of Mount Pellegrino.
Day 3 – 🛏️ Mazara del Vallo B&B / Meat & Cheese Day 🧀
No ordinary breakfast: today is all about the Cannoli Breakfast in Piana degli Albanesi, Sicily’s undisputed “cradle of cannoli.” Learn the secrets of this iconic pastry before indulging in the best you’ll ever taste.
The journey continues with a country escape at Stefano’s organic wine estate: sip his wines, taste the unique DOP cheese Vastedda del Belìce, and enjoy a Sicilian barbecue in the peaceful hills—a dream come true!
In the afternoon, step back in time at Selinunte, the most fascinating Greek archaeological site in Sicily, where ancient temples rise dramatically above the sea.
The day ends in Mazara del Vallo with a B&B check-in and a dinner of Western Sicilian specialties.
Day 4 – 🛏️ Mazara del Vallo B&B / Fish Day 🐟
Time to sail! Wake up early, board a boat, and cruise along Sicily’s turquoise coast. Swim in the crystalline waters of Cala Spaghetti, sip crisp Sicilian white wine, and—if luck strikes—grill the fish you just caught!
This is also your chance to taste the world-famous Mazara red shrimp—raw, as Sicilians love it.
Back on land, explore the Arabic Kasbah of Mazara del Vallo, a maze of alleys filled with history, multicultural vibes, and sweet surprises. The day ends with a true local tradition: Sicilian couscous, prepared in three different styles.
Day 5 – 🛏️ Trapani Agriturismo*** / Marsala Day 🍷
Yes, Marsala is the name of Sicily’s most famous wine—but don’t call it “sweet” in front of local producers! You’ll soon find out why.
The day begins in the enchanting lagoon of Mozia, the ancient Phoenician stronghold. Walk among archaeological treasures, admire the celebrated statue of The Youth of Mozia, and taste wines born from vines that survive the island’s fierce winds.
Later, enter century-old Marsala cellars and see Italy’s largest wine barrel, once showcased at the 1915 San Francisco Expo.
The grand finale? A magical dinner in the medieval village of Erice, with breathtaking views over the coast.
Day 6 – 🛏️ Trapani Agriturismo*** / Cook & Chill 🧑🍳
Slow down and recharge at a charming agriturismo. Swim in the pool, book a massage, or simply enjoy the countryside views. But first: roll up your sleeves for a Busiate pasta class, learning to make Trapani’s signature pasta straight from your hosts.
In the afternoon, explore Trapani’s historic center or relax at the beach. The evening brings a boutique wine tastingfeaturing innovative Grillo-based whites paired with rustic countryside flavors: pane cunzato, tomatoes, and seasonal veggie dishes.
Day 7 – 🛏️ Palermo Hotel**** / Farewell Arancini Feast 🥂
On the way back to Palermo, stop at the Casa Memoria Peppino Impastato, the home of the young journalist murdered by the Mafia in 1978—today a moving memorial and symbol of courage.
After a coffee and sweet break, enjoy free time in Palermo before the grand farewell dinner: an arancini cooking show at Marco’s home, paired with Sicilian sparkling wine—a perfect toast to a week of flavors, culture, and new friendships.
THE GUIDES
You will explore the West of Sicily with a Sicilian licensed tour guide. The style of our guides is very laidback but yet professional and attent. Your Streaty guide will lead the group and be there to assist you but also to enjoy the time with you! always ready to improvise or make up something different to make you get the best of your time in Sicily.
THE STREATY SPIRIT
The way we do things at Streaty is very simple. We do not pack tours to make tourists happy. Quite a strong statement, isn’t it? In fact, it’s not the market trend to drive our business, it’s just our passion and our welcoming spirit. When we design a tour we start by asking ourselves the following questions: where would we take our friends during their visit to Sicily? what would we offer them to eat and drink? how can we make them understand our present and our past?
There you go! Joining a Streaty tour, either a half day food tour or a multi-day trip, means diving into the unfiltered Italian culture, meeting the locals, getting acquired with new old flavours, experiencing a different way of seeing life.
This is the drove our decision to pick a Bed & Breakfast in Mazara del Vallo instead of a 4 star hotel. We want travelers to experience the Casba of Mazara, to feel the the wind of the alleys, the sounds, we want you to roam around the labyrinth, to get lost and admire the sunlight reflecting on the yellow stone of the churches.
IS THIS THE RIGHT TOUR FOR YOU?
If you are searching for a group tour that will allow you to enjoy your time in Sicily in the name of good company, culture, history, food, wine and relax, then this is the right tour for you!
The pacing of the tour is well balanced and suitable for all ages. However, we believe that this tour is more suitable for people in the range age of 40-60 years old.
While you only need curiosity and appetite to enjoy the culinary aspect of the tour, the program also includes some walks in the nature that we wouldn’t recommend to travelers with limited standing or walking capacity.
This tour also involves some independent traveler’s skills. At some point the guide might indicate meeting place and times to be reached by travelers on their own.
However, if you want to join this tour with your family and friends, you can always make it private, which will allow us to adjust the pacing according to your needs.
