What you’ll do

Let’s go straight to the point. You will get in touch with the real Roman culture and taste the real Roman food. Our local tour guide will walk you off the beaten paths of Rome and into the beating heart of Testaccio district. This is no ordinary walking tour—it’s an intimate rendezvous with the city’s daily life and cuisine away from tourist traps. We don’t simply run tasting tours, we offer authentic cultural experiences!

Tour starts from Trastevere train station with a sweet welcome, the one and only Roman Maritozzo! Streaty guides from Rome have picked for you the top of the tops, a cafè specialized in the making of maritozzo. And since we don’t see travelers as “numbers” but as new friends, this sweet kick off will also be the moment to get to know our guests better. Time to burn calories and reach the Testaccio Market to immerse yourself into the local street food culture. You will savor recipes and products usually unknown among tourists: such as the polpetta di lesso, the roman tripe and some regional cheese. Streaty local guides have designed a well balanced culinary experience that combines quality, quantity and authenticity! It will be party time for your taste buds cheering at the crunchy supplì and the soft smoked cheese. Super yummy my dear! Sip comfortably your wine as the host shares the story behind each cheese and our guides gives insight on local culture. You will taste regional wine at 3 different food stops. No Testaccio adventure is complete without a mandatory tasting of a traditional roman pasta and this will happen literally in the “belly” of Testaccio district unveiling a secret gem of the city. What you’ll eat

As you know, on Streaty tours we only offer regional foods and drinks and we are pretty strict about it. So forget parmigiano, pizza, spritz, mozzarella and cannoli! Instead, you will taste +8 different traditional recipes from Rome and Lazio region. We are specialized in street food experience, which means that big part of the tour will be focused on this type of food. You will have maritozzo with whipped cream, supplì, fried cod fish, polpettas, roman tripe, cheese…but also pasta and of course desserts! You won’t leave hungry. You will leave happy. Most of the samples are on-the-go, however we have a couple of comfortable indoor seated tastings.
